Newsletter for January 2008

NEXT MEETING is Wed, Jan. 16th at 7 PM. Includes First Degree in honor of Pope Benedict XVI. Each new member's name will be recorded in a book that will be given to our Holy Father.

OUR KC Christmas Dinner was December 19. Special thanks to: Denny and Beth Puccetti for their delicious meal, Jim & Jean Elvekrog, Bob & Carolyn Zellner, Chuck Frederick & Rick Maier for set-up, Steve Geishirt, Paul Wiesler, Jeff Knier & Jerry Schremp for the Christmas carols, and Bob Klinger for his musical talent. Santa, if you can read this from the North Pole, thank you for being with us. About 100 people attended.

CHRISTMAS PARTY HONOREES - our departed brothers, Roman Adler, Tony Maier and Jerome Ripp; the 1988 State KC Bowling Tournament Committee: Ed Hellenbrand, Larry Gehri, Hank Kruschek, Harold Schara, Marv Hellenbrand, Paul Weitzer and John Dremsa; Past officers / committee leads, Youth – Joe Williams, Life Savers for Life – George Rizza, Lecturer – Pat Gage, Recorder – Frank Kosmach, Trustee – Harold Schara, Grand Knight – Marshall Frey; Men who started the Bible study – Jeff Knier and Paul Wiesler; Vince and Lorrain Endres for their service to the Church and community (and their special birthdays). Fr. Eric was given a certificate of appreciation for being our Chaplain.

May Mary show us, in her Son, the Way of peace, and enlighten our vision, so that we can recognize Christ’s face in the face of every human person, the heart of peace!"

HOLIDAY RAFFLE TICKETS Winners will be drawn on Thursday, Jan 24th at 7 PM in the KC Chambers. 95 total cash prizes totaling $5,000; the parish and school offices have extra tickets. Proceeds are split between the KC's and St. John School. Mike Siehoff, chair.

OUR COUNCIL CONTRIBUTED to the Diocesan Vocations program - to support Joseph Johnson from St. Aloysius, Sauk City.

CHARITY RAFFLE TICKETS Three tickets are attached to this newsletter - $5 each. The Charity Raffle is a Statewide KC raffle, with winners picked April 26th. Proceeds can only be used to assist individuals who have suffered loss. Total prize money is $135,000. There is also a second chance drawing of tickets sold by our council with four winners of $25 each.

Please fill out the stubs with your payment and
  1. Place them in the collection basket at Mass,
  2. Drop them off at Neil's Liquor, or
  3. Mail them to KC's, PO Box 322, Waunakee, WI.

KC FREE THROW CONTEST on Sunday, Jan 6th at 4:15 PM at St. John School. Neal Burkle is our chair.
LIFESAVERS FOR LIFE January 19th & 20th. We will be giving out Lifesavers at both St. Mary of the Lake and St. John's at all masses. Chairs George Rizza & Tom Dorn.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST January 27 at St. John's school cafeteria. Please contact Dick Marshall or Frank Kosmach to help out!
KC KNOWLEDGE CONTEST Will be ramping – up in January. Contact Steve Geishirt.
STATE BOWLING TOURNAMENT Here in Waunakee! February 16 – April 6. Like past years, we will also have teams. Even the occasional bowler can bowl one of the weekends. Call Jim Haag to get on a team. Call Curt Dresen to lend a hand with the tournament.
