Newsletter for February 2008

OUR NEXT MEETING is on WEDNESDAY, FEB. 20th –at 7 PM. This will be our insurance night. Dennis O'Connell will be on hand to answer your questions.

OUR JANUARY FIRST DEGREE IN HONOR of POPE BENEDICT ADDED TEN MEN: Dave Coyle, Greg Gillis, Matt Haag, Eric Hayko, Perry Heiser, Tim Kiefer, Seamus Murphy, Dan Piazza, Ross Tillman, and Bob Varebrook. We had a great turnout for our meeting with over 50 members attending. Please continue inviting your friends to join our council.

OUR SYMPATHY IS EXTENDED TO THE families of departed brother Knights Erv Acker, Gary Hunt and John Andrewjeski. We will deeply miss these fine men.

KNIGHT OF THE MONTH is BOB ZELLNER who has been a KC since 1963. He is married to Carolyn. Bob serves as our financial secretary. This involves extensive management of our financial and other records. For the 2007 Waunafest, he served on the committee that provided oversight for the money collection in the food court. Bob is involved in many of our events and is always willing to offer help. Congratulations Bob Z!!

KC POSTER, FREE THROW AND KNOWLEDGE CONTESTS have been held and the winners were recognized at our pancake breakfast. Congratulations to all the winners. Names are posted in our chambers. Thank you to Neal Burkle & Steve Geishirt for leading these events. These men and their helpers, Chuck Frederick, Mark Roelke, Lee Kobza and Don Statz also assisted at the district free throw competition.

ROLLER SKATING: The last event is February 8, 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Ron Gundrum and his wife Kathy have done a great job! Thanks to everyone who helped.

LIFE SAVERS FOR LIFE was held January 19 & 20 as a reminder of Right to Life on the anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision. Parishioners at St. John and St. Mary of the Lake generously donated nearly $400 – which we will again contribute to the Elizabeth House. Thanks go to Tom Dorn and those who volunteered after the Masses.

KC DUES NOTICE. If anyone hasn't sent dues, help us save postage! Please forward $25 to Bob Zellner along with $3.65 PKD. So far, PKD total is $802 with many generous donations. Thanks!

NEED A KC POLO SHIRT? John Salis can help you.

OUR ST. JOHN PANCAKE BREAKFAST was another huge success. 550+ enjoyed breakfast courtesy of hard working Knights. Thanks to everyone who helped Frank Kosmach and Dick Marshall make this happen.
