Newsletter for June 2007

NEXT MEETING is on Wed, June 20 16th, beginning at 7 PM. Reminder – the North stairwell is also open – use that entrance!

WELCOME THREE NEW BROTHERS! Three men joined Knighthood on Sunday, June 3rd in a special First Degree. John Wiesman, Buck Teeter, and Ken Scanlin are our newest members. Make sure you introduce yourself to them! Special thanks to our First Degree Team – who did another magnificent job!

KNIGHT OF THE MONTH is Paul Endres. Paul recently gave up a weekend to be a delegate for us at the State KC convention. And that's only the tip of the iceberg (before global warming!) as Paul chairs our Charity Raffle, coordinated our Mother's Day Roses, help split logs, and is now getting busy with the Parish Picnic. Know you are very busy Paul – and we especially appreciate the priority that you put on Knights of Columbus involvement!

OFFICER CANDIDATES PRESENTED for your vote at our June meeting are:
  • Grand Knight – Jim Tillman
  • Deputy Grand Knight – Dave Curley
  • Secretary – Bob Zellner
  • Treasurer – Dan Meyer
  • Chancellor – George Rizza
  • Recorder – Ed Gilkes
  • Advocate – John Webster
  • Lecturer – Bob Patt
  • Warden – James Shrader
  • Inside Guard – Earl Miller
  • Outside Guard – Chuck Frederick
Sincere Thanks to all candidates for agreeing to serve our council in these roles. We have truly been blessed with strong leadership and active member participation - keeping us vibrant and successful!

KC CHARITY RAFFLE SECOND CHANCE WINNERS were picked at our meeting; they are: John Salis; Jim Fitzpatrick; Joanne Gorecki, Terry Carey. Each of these lucky "second chancers" receives $25. Thanks again to all who bought raffle tickets. Even if you didn't win – you helped raise $934 for charitable causes being targeted here to needy or deserving neighbors. Thanks also to ticket sales leaders – for the second year in a row top is Chuck Frederick; next was Dale Clemens, and then Paul Endres! Thanks to all who helped!

CONTINUING KNIGHTHOOD JOURNEY were three members of our council on Saturday, May 12 in Middleton. Ed Gilkes, Ron Gundrum, and John Cherf all received the Second Degree Exemplification. Congratulations Gentlemen! We encourage ALL members to get their Second and Third Degree – and fully realize Knighthood.

2008 STATE BOWLING TOURNEY PLANNING continues on our behalf – lead by the core team of co-chairs George Rizza and Curt Dresan (and another guy who is too modest to have his name mentioned (but his initials are EH) who has been a tremendous help)! You will be hearing more about our booklet, help needed, & planning coming soon!

Over 400 MOTHERS DAY ROSES were sold after masses saluting those SPECIAL mothers! All of our proceeds go to support KC Respect for Life campaign. Thanks to all who supported both of these worthwhile, great causes!

FINANCIAL SECRETARY Bob Zellner put in a lot of extra time to file the first ever informational tax return for our council last month. Due to the amount of revenue we take in – we need to be filing this information. This task was made harder as in the past our council had multiple different check books. During the past year, our "books" have been coordinated to make possible an accurate accounting of our council. THANKS Bob for all of your work – you are one special B.Z. guy!

OUR CELL PHONE RECYCLING PROGRAM continues to benefit Special Olympics. Simply get them out of your drawers and drop off your used cell phones and charges at a KC "box" in the Gathering Room, Neil's, or Waunabowl. All personal information is deleted from the phones, they will be refurbished, and put to use. Thanks to George Rizza who started this, and Rick Raemisch now taking over this program for our council!
