Newsletter for July 2007

NEXT MEETING is on Wed, July 18th, 7 PM. Please join us for installation of officers!
* Reminder * use North side stairwell to avoid construction!

KNIGHT OF THE MONTH is Kelly Koenig, who recently chaired our Parish Festival Bingo. This event is a favorite of the Festival, and Kelly orders materials and makes sure we are up to "snuff", brings in personal sound gear, and gets our forms filled out before and after for the license. He also coordinates our equipment for other groups use during the year. Thanks again Kelly & Karla!

FAMILY OF THE MONTH is the James and Lisa Shrader and their 3 children 3, 7, and 10 who attend St. John School. James is our warden and does an outstanding job maintaining the KC web site (www.KofC6371.org) even given his hectic work travels. He also co-chairs our KC Family Picnic and is a "regular" at KC events. Lisa volunteers for book mark reading and is a mother on call and active in MOPS. Thanks for all you do!

OFFICERS for our next term were unanimously elected in June, and will be installed in July;
  • Grand Knight – Jim Tillman
  • Deputy Grand Knight – Dave Curley
  • Financial Secretary – Bob Zellner
  • Treasurer – Dan Meyer
  • Chancellor – George Rizza
  • Recorder – Ed Gilkes
  • Advocate – John Webster
  • Lecturer – Bob Patt
  • Warden – James Shrader
  • Inside Guard – Earl Miller
  • Outside Guard – Chuck Frederick
  • Trustees: Rick Maier, Rick Kaltenberg, Marshall Frey

STAR COUNCIL. Our council has fulfilled the requirements for the prestigious Star Council Award! Congratulations All! Special thanks to Jim Tillman, Jim Elvekrog, and John Dremsa!

GOOD OF THE ORDER. Please include Joe Haack in your prayers - whose wife Rita passed away on June 19th. Joe, of Cross Plains, is an active KC and past District Deputy and Degree Team Member.

ROSARY: Waunakee Manor, 6:15 pm Thursdays
The schedule for the upcoming month is:

RELAY FOR LIFE PANCAKE BREAKFAST was well attended and greatly appreciated again this year! Each year we donate all proceeds back to the American Cancer Society. Thanks again for all who generously donated your time, and special thanks to Darrell Kutchmarek for great job of chairing! Relay for Life Pancake Breakfast

2008 KC BOWLING TOURNAMET PLANNING continues with our master schedule created on June 21st and a July meeting set with Watertown.

KC INSURANCE – Dennis O'Connell - FIFC
Buying insurance is something that's easy to put off until "tomorrow". And as our lives are so busy, tomorrow can easily become next week, next month, or even next year. Before the summer is over, make an appointment to visit with me, your professional Knights of Columbus agent. We all know someone whose health, instantly and seemingly out-of-the-blue, changes. I'm happy to work with you to answer questions and put a plan in place to help your family when help is most needed.
Call me today at: (800) 795-4287 - Toll Free or dennis.o'connell@kofc.org

2007 WAUNAFEST, which runs July 27 – 29th, is a great chance to help our council by volunteering. We will be part of a "food court" this year – instead of separate tents for each organization. The KC's again are serving breakfast both on Saturday and Sunday – so ample times where you might be able to offer help. Please contact one of our team chairing this event, including Vern Meier, Keith Clemens, Darrell Kutchmarek or Kevin Kearney.

END OF FRATERNAL YEAR. As we come to the end of our Fraternal year, so too ends my two years of service as Grand Knight. Thanks to everyone in this council who has made this service so enjoyable! It indeed has been an honor and privilege to be part of this officer team and be involved in what we collectively achieve as Knights. Our council is in great hands with Jim Tillman as Grand Knight and Dave Curley as Deputy for our next term!

Fraternally yours,
Marshall Frey
